The Tuesday Club of Stockbridge Program for 16 April 2019: “A–Z: From American Songbook and Armenian Songs to Jazz”
For its annual fundraiser, The Tuesday Club of Stockbridge presents master musicians pianist Armen Donelian and bassist David Clark performing a wide-ranging program of jazz, standards drawn from the Great American Songbook, 18th-century Armenian songs, and original compositions.
The program is held at the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, 4 Main Street, Stockbridge, MA at 4 pm. Doors open at 3:30. The church is handicap-accessible. The program is open to the public; tickets are available at the door and are $20 (cash only please). All proceeds are donated to local charities. Please plan on staying for refreshments following the program.
Donelian and Clark bring a composer’s sensibility to the piano/bass duo format in which they have performed together for 25 years. Their charged improvisations exhibit a classical aesthetic that elevates their chosen themes from the vernacular to the transcendent. Donelian’s website provides a variety of music samples, previous and upcoming events, and biographical/professional information (http://www.armendonelian.com/).
