Honoring Dr. King with Du Bois Legacy Festival

September 19, 2019

The Town of Great Barrington, Multicultural BRIDGE and the Du Bois Center launch “A Day of Service” program on Martin Luther King Day to initiate the town’s 2019 W.E.B. Du Bois Legacy Festival. A national holiday celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., local volunteers including students and their families of various middle and high schools, will come together to donate two hours of service to local not-for-profit organizations. Volunteers will gather at the First Congregational Church (251 Main Street) in Great Barrington for refreshments and to check in. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Families are welcome to participate!  An additional early morning volunteer opportunity is available, working with the Sheffield Food Pantry (8:30 a.m.); and an early evening opportunity is offered doing Community Meal prep at Berkshires South (5:00 p.m.). Afterwards, there will be a potluck reception including food, fellowship, and the opportunity to share in community our experiences from the morning volunteer work and reflecting on lessons learned from the guest speakers and activities. We request that volunteers register in advance by filling out a volunteer form, available on the event’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ events/519268525258009/) or they may access the form directly at https://goo.gl/forms/ 7ADflWRE47R5tCgx2. This is a family-friendly event, but please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
